The history of L2L

Bob Argyle, a seasoned yet humble automotive expert, spent 23 years at Autoliv, where he was deeply immersed in the now legendary Toyota Production System (TPS).

Inspired by the efficiency and problem-solving culture of Toyota in Japan, Bob developed a passion for optimizing operations and empowering teams. His mantra?

“Everyone should be a problem solver.”

The power of lean

Recognizing a gap in the market, Bob founded Leading2Lean to bring the power of lean principles and data-driven insights to make issues in the factory visible and actionable:

  1. How can we effectively foresee, capture, and record problems?
  2. What resources are available to address these problems?
  3. How can we track and analyze problem data?
  4. How can we ensure that the right people are notified and involved in problem-solving?
  5. … and how can we make sure we can prevent those problems from happening next time?

He tested and continuously improved his system vigorously at Autoliv first. Demand grew outside of the walls of his employer and in 2010, Bob brought Tyler Whitaker and Keith Barr onto the team.

About L2L 1

Dispatch

L2L’s first product was “Dispatch,” a unit of collaboration that gives everyone in the plant a real-time view of what’s happening, assigns work, provides instructions, and enables team members to ask for help.

The methodology of Dispatch is rooted in the principles of the Andon system that notifies teams about quality or process problems. In 911 lingo, a "dispatch" refers to the process of sending emergency responders, such as police officers, firefighters, or paramedics, to the scene of an emergency when the alarm bells go off.

L2L essentially does the same in manufacturing for operators, maintenance engineers, mechanics, and technicians.

Our values

L2L empowers teams in the plant to identify and solve problems proactively by shining a light on root causes and connecting people to actions.

Collaboration

We’re better together

Our connections—within our team and our users—are the key to our continued success. By collaborating we spark bold ideas, build trust, and inspire action. Together, we achieve more than we ever could alone. The success of our customers is our success—we’re better together.

Continuous improvement

Think boldly, stay curious, and adapt with purpose

We reimagine what’s possible. Your growth is yours to own, but it’s also something we celebrate as a team. We continuously improve ourselves, our work, and the work of our customers by asking questions, staying curious, staying humble, and always learning.

Ownership

Take responsibility and make it happen

Ownership is about more than taking responsibility—it’s about stepping up, driving impactful progress, and making things happen. We take responsibility for our work and always strive to exceed expectations.

Positivity

Support yourself and each other

We look for the positive in everything we see, do, and feel, and actively support ourselves and each other. Together, we create a space where encouragement, celebration, and constructive feedback thrive, enabling us to navigate challenges with resilience and achieve our goals.

Our company culture and people

Yes, we do work hard. We also know how to have fun.

"I love the culture at L2L, especially in the engineering department, everyone is working together. So if you have a question, you're never alone. You can ask your team, you can ask someone not on your team. You can just post it to the larger engineering org and someone will always be there to help or jump on a call or troubleshoot it. And so you never feel like you're on an island, which sometimes happens in an engineering world, but definitely not at L2L."

"You know, you can feel confident enough to make mistakes without feeling like it's for nothing. You're going to learn from those mistakes and you're going to feel empowered to try things out and do some testing, get your hands dirty a little bit, get in there and see what's going on. There's so much capability and so many different modules I have time getting to know the platform, learning the in's and out's."

"One thing I like about working at L2L, it's very personal because everybody is trying just to help each other so we all align on the same goal and we are all basically very customer centric. We care so deeply about the customer. Before we

do any projects, we always think, what is the best for our customers? I love that we are very customer-centric, and that's what makes our product successful."
